At a glance
- Your content is yours. We take only the permission needed to run Tether (§3).
- Sharing is permanent. What you share with a person or a tether is theirs to keep (§4).
- Premium renews until you cancel — in the app for card billing, or in your App Store or Google Play settings (§6).
- Books are made to order. Once printing starts an order cannot be changed or cancelled; damaged or misprinted books are reprinted or refunded (§7).
- AI features make suggestions. Review them before you print or share (§8).
- Deleting your account is permanent after 30 days and cancels a card subscription at once (§10).
1. Accepting these terms
By creating an account you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. If you do not agree, do not use Tether.
2. Your account
You must be old enough to enter into this agreement where you live. One account per person. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
3. Your content
You own what you add. Tether claims no ownership of your photographs, videos, recordings or writing.
You give us the permission we need to run Tether: to store your content, make previews and transcripts, analyse it as the Privacy Policy describes, lay it out into books, send it to our printer when you order, and show it to the people you share it with. This ends when the content is deleted, except as §4 says about shared content. These terms give us no rights in your content beyond what running Tether needs.
You promise that you have the right to add what you add, that sharing it does not break anyone's rights, and that you are entitled to have the photographs you add analysed — including, while face recognition is on, the faces of other people in them. You can turn face recognition off in Settings → Privacy & Security.
We do not use your content to train AI models.
4. Sharing is permanent
When you share a memory or a book with a person or a tether, they get their own copy, and when you delete your account those copies stay with them. A tether outlives its members: what you post in a shared space stays with the space if you leave, and a tether with other people in it can only be deleted if its active members agree. A collection (gather) someone assembles as a gift for you becomes yours. If you want something back, unshare it before you go.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Tether for anything unlawful. No content that sexually exploits minors; no harassment; no uploading other people's private images without their permission; no using face recognition to identify people outside your own family and social circle; no getting around plan limits; no automated scraping. We may remove content or suspend or end an account that breaks these rules.
6. Subscriptions and billing
Plans. Free is always available, with the limits shown in the app. Premium is $12.99 a month or $119.99 a year. The price you will pay, and any free trial, is shown before you subscribe.
Where you pay. If your App Store or Google Play account is in the United States, you pay by card inside the app. Everywhere else, you subscribe through your Apple App Store or Google Play account.
Trials and renewal. Where a trial is offered, nothing is charged until it ends, and we remind you before it does. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
Cancelling. Cancel where you bought. Card subscriptions: from your plan in Settings in the app. Store subscriptions: your App Store or Google Play subscription settings; we cannot cancel those for you. Cancelling stops future charges and you keep access to the end of the period you have paid for. Pausing your account (§10) also stops a card subscription renewing.
Refunds. Store purchases follow the store's refund rules. For card payments, refunds follow the consumer law that applies to you.
7. Printed books
Ordering. You design or generate a book, choose a size and destination, and we show you a price, held for a limited time. You pay in the app; Premium members' discount is shown at checkout. Your order is accepted when we send it to print. We may decline and refund an order whose content breaks §5.
Made to order. Check a book before you pay: what you approve is what is printed, and an order cannot be changed once placed.
Cancelling an order. An order can be stopped only before printing starts, usually within hours. Ask at once through Feedback in the app; if printing has not begun we cancel and refund in full. After that the order cannot be cancelled or returned. Because a book is made to your specification, cooling-off rights that let you return standard goods may not apply to it.
Damaged, misprinted or lost books. Tell us through Feedback in the app, with photos where you can, and we will reprint the book or refund you.
Delivery. Delivery dates are estimates, and tracking depends on the carrier. Where a book crosses a border, customs duties or import taxes may be charged to the recipient; they are not included in our price.
8. AI features
Tether uses AI to suggest which photos to keep, describe them, transcribe recordings, and draft captions, titles and layouts. Suggestions can be wrong — including naming the wrong person in a group photograph — so review anything before you share or print it.
9. Availability and changes
We may change, add or remove features. We will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce what a paid plan includes.
10. Pausing, deleting, and termination
Pausing keeps everything, hides you from search, stops notifications, and stops a card subscription renewing. You can lift it at any time.
Deleting starts a 30-day grace period during which you can change your mind. Then your account and content are deleted as §7 of the Privacy Policy describes: what you shared stays with its recipients, and a record of significant actions is kept. A card subscription is cancelled at once and the rest of the period is not refunded; pause instead if you want to keep what you paid for. A store subscription keeps charging until you cancel it in your store settings.
We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or the law, or where we must to protect Tether and its users. Where we can, we will tell you why and let you export your data first.
11. Disclaimers and liability
Tether is provided as is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI output will be accurate. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and does not let you waive.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the place Tether operates from, and disputes are handled in its courts unless the law where you live gives you other rights.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version at the top is the copy in force, and we will tell you in the app when a change matters.
